Description
This acrylic painting was painted using a photograph I took of my honorable father-in-law's and mother-in-law's neighbors' yard. Before finishing the painting I was informed that my mother-in-law's dear friend had died of bone cancer which left the husband a widower and alone. They were part of that great American generation. The original painting was painted with orange and blue interference paint so that when the painting is lighted from above you see only deciduous trees like the birch trees and shadows. But , when lighted more generally, the evergreens and golden sky and golden meadows and auras in the chairs appear, as if to suggest a glimpse of that eternal home where the Lord of Lords awaits His own into glory. It's a symbolic painting in many ways the two chairs is where they sat together in life enjoying each other's company, the shed was where he spent some of his time, and the container of flowers was a labor of love of his dear wife. In beauty they walked and worked together as one. The caption reads " two are better than one because they have a good reward for their labor. This is a verse taken from the writings of King Solomon in the book of Ecclesiastes in the Bible, The Book of Books.
